Goal / Problem solved
Project X01 was conceived to address the growing digital literacy gap among school-aged youth in the Biyagama area. Many students lacked structured exposure to basic technology skills, personal branding, and entrepreneurial thinking, skills increasingly expected even before university entry. The project designed and delivered a structured youth development programme spanning six weeks, combining hands-on workshops, mentoring sessions, and a final pitch competition open to participants aged 15 to 22.
Outcome / Impact
The programme directly served 112 participants across three schools and two community centres, with 84% completing all six modules. Post-programme surveys showed a 67% increase in self-reported confidence around digital tools and public communication. Eighteen youth-led project proposals were submitted at the final pitch event, of which four were selected for incubation support through partner organisations. The initiative was later adopted as a framework reference by the Leo District 306 D4 community development committee.
